Unfortunately the ads are installed to run while you are browsing. The only time the ads are removed in the applications is if you purchase premium version in which it is offered. There is no other way to remove them.

Ads are added by the third party developers of the apps. This helps them offset the cost of development and updates as OS change and new options are added to the apps.
Some developers offer Premium PAY apps which remove the ads. However, Verizon has zero control over third party applications.

So in other words to remove the ads blocking the screen from games and so on we have to do without the app entirely. Is that correct?
I just upgraded from dumb to smart phone and had no idea that there would be ads floating into the screen blocking the viw of the game or other app. Not a happy camper at all here.

I don't know about games, but I have purchased a couple of apps specifically in order to avoid getting ads. If it only costs a dollar or two to buy the app, I figure, why not, if it means never seeing an ad?

This is the pleasures of wanting stuff for free, the developer needs to get something for their hard work also and the ads are their solution.. Your choice is to buy the app or simple not use it...

I have a dumb phone and can't even call out sometimes because the phone is searching for apps or running the weather. It's a little frustrating at times. Any solutions?

Can you explain more? What do you mean searching for apps and running the weather, I am not sure what you are referencing to.

I pick up the phone and want to dial out but there's an app search in progress which takes pushing the "end" button several times and about 30 seconds to finally stop running and let me use the phone for the purpose I purchased it which is talking or texting with people.
Alternately, I'll pick up the phone to use it and there's an offer to see today's weather channel. I'm not interested.
So I wonder if there's a way to stop this nonsense I am not interested in from taking my time.
