Droid SMS Capacity
InfiniteClouds

The one thing that has deterred me from buying neat phones like the Voyager, Env3 or Touch in the past is the pathetic capacity for SMS messages... especially on so-called messaging phones.

Currently, I have a Windows Mobile phone that has threaded-SMS with messages as far back as last June. It doesn't matter why I want to save messages for so long... only that I do. I also have a program on here that let's me back up and save the SMS to my computer... PIM something maybe?

What kind of capacity does the Droid have - especially considering this space is shared with any apps you put on there. I doubt SMS can be saved to the SD... most devices don't allow that. Also, are there ways of backing them up from your Droid to a computer, and being able to reload them later?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can download an app called SMSBackup so that it can be constantly saved and synced to your Gmail account. It'll automatically make a tab called "SMS" so that you can view it via your Gmail app on your phone, or via computer.
