Goto Droiddoes.com ! You can download new apps quickly and easily by either sending a text message to a designated location or scanning the barcode provided with Google Goggles or a barcode scanner!

AppBrain is pretty nice too. To make full use of it you need to install the AppBrain app from the market.

Gee Mark. I clicked on the link you provided. How specifically does one download an app from the link as I tried and I tried, but I could not find a way to download any app.

I was hoping for something similar to the iPhone's app store. This link just has a handful of programs for the Android OS. Anything out there similar to the App Store? I just get tired of looking through piles and piles of garbage programs on my phone and would like the ability to browse through them on my pc then download them via barcode.

Check out AppBrain. You install the AppBrain app on your phone. Then go to the web site and log in with your Google account. Browse/search for apps you want and mark them to be installed. When you are finished start AppBrain on your phone, touch Sync with AppBrain. You get a list of everything you marked for install. Touch Perform all changes and the Market app opens with the specific list of everything you chose. Then you go through the list and install each one.

lol! Thanks logicman. I just posted a little semi-rant about the market place and about how something like this would be nice. I'll check it out. But wouldn't it be nice to have something official from Google themselves? I mean, I think that a lot of users would much prefer to use a Google product than a third party product. I certainly don't have much problem with using this app you pointed out, but what about the large number of users who just aren't comfortable with that sort of thing? I don't know, maybe it's nit-picking.

Sorry all and logicman. It ain't all that easy. I just tried to sync and got this error message. There are no matches on the Android Market (don't know why it says that as I am sync with the other BRAIN Market) for the search: pname:com.NamcoNetworks.PacMan. How did "pname" even come up???

The pname entries are created by AppBrain and are used to build the list that appears after it launches the Market app. I just tried with the free PacMan and get the same error so it could be a problem with this particular app. I have not encountered issues with any others. There is a contact link on the AppBrain site. You might want to let them know there's an issue with that app.
BTW, check your private messages.

Logicman,
Don't forget to create a separate/new "list" and copy all of your "installed on the phone" applications to that list... That way if you ever have to "factory reset" / wipe the phone, you can use that list to re-populate your phone! (If you don't create a new list, as soon as you re-install appsbrain on your phone and sign in, your list of installed apps will be wiped on the web site.... Trust me on this one )
(You create the list on the web site, not on the phone-side application.)
