I only have two devices hooked up and with all these windows updates I have gone over my allowance.

I think they are talking about home 4GLTE internet Installed, not about phones/hotspots. This is a different service with a slightly better pricing scheme, 30 GB for $120 instead of $135 on the Verizon Plan.

They COULD switch to the Verizon Plan and have higher data limits, but that would mean their data pricing would increase even if they DIDN'T increase their data allowance. I don't see why they should be penalized like this. I find it odd that this home internet service has its highest data tier set at 30 GB while the Verizon Plan has MUCH HIGHER data tiers.

Exactly,  LTE is advertised as a home network, but with all the streaming services available 30 gb is just not high enough.  I am going to hate paying the overage charge....

Switching to the Verizon Plan would likely be less expensive than paying the overage charge, especially if you have overages every month.

Prices with Verizon Plan would be as follows:

40 GB = $180/month

50 GB = $225/month

60 GB = $270/month

80 GB = $360/month

100 GB = $450/month

Those same amounts with your overages would be as follows:

40 GB = $220/month

50 GB = $320/month

60 GB = $420/month

80 GB = $620/month

100 GB = $820/month

Of course the Verizon Plan comes with carryover data and any unused "allowance" data would be added to your next month's allowance. It also comes with Safety mode which when activated would prevent you from incurring overage fees by lowering your data speed after exceeding your allowance cap.

Something to consider.
