I got the same "invalid credentials" shortly after I purchased my phone. When I tried to delete an email account I couldn't because my credentials were invalid. I even resorted to changing my log in password on my computer thinking that would work. It didn't !

Finally out of frustration and the need to "DO SOMETHING" I decided on a hard reset. It worked, I was one happy camper for sure. If you reach the point of dire frustration, I recommend a hard reset, it worked.

I'm sure there is a technical answer as to why this happens and an equally technical fix but, for me as long as it works I don't care whether its of a technical nature or not.

It is nice to see a response from VZW customer support.  However, performing a factory reset isn't a very practical option -- especially, without having some confidence that the problem won't eventually return.  Can you provide any additional information as to when a real fix might be available?

The reason he suggestion what he did is that since I.C.S. was such a Big OS it sometimes helps to remove the Old Clutter that was left by Gingerbread and by doing this the phone might work better than it is. Yes there is no Guarantees but as long as know how to go thew with it.

And if you restore your things back to were they were or  All should be good. I did 4 of them on my Droid X over the 2 year that it was in Service. These were the OS's  Cup Cake--> Eclair-->Fro-Yo-->Gingerbread..

This problem is not related to I.C.S.  There are numerous reports by others that indicate it is a widespread problem that started happening on or about June 21.  In my case, I didn't get I.C.S. until about 10 days later and I.C.S. does not fix the problem.

Why won't VZW tell us what's going on?

My husband and I are having the same difficulties addressed above: When we try to read our Gmail email accounts from our Samsung phones we get  "Login credentials incorrect" .  Can read the email fine from Outlook, and it was working earlier today. Haven't changed the email setup. Can't delete the email accounts from the phone. Have tried rebooting the phone several times - doesn't help. Have checked that the phone s/w is up to date - it says it is.
