I suddenly started having the same issue on my RAZR MAXX. Checked SmartActions as suggested here but I have never created any, so that wasn't it. Found out it was a Car Dock app doing it, which is funny because it would happen when I am at home and Bluetooth was not connected to my car's system (or anything else for that matter). Just a messed-up app, I guess. I had two such apps installed (Car Home and Custom Car Dock), only one of which was supposed to be primary (Car Home). Uninstalled them both. Problem is gone.
Spoke too soon. After receiving another 5 or so texts, the problem was right back. Went to recovery mode and cleared the cache. We'll see if this clears things up.
hopefully that'll be the ticket) you should be able to go to your ringtones in where the email notification's are and set it to Silence.. b33
