WI-FI

I have a wireless WEP network at home that my phone will not connect to. It will show it as an available network. When I put in the password it goes as far as searching for IP address and that's it. It will not connect. I have no issues connecting to other networks when they are available i.e. coffee shop, motel, etc. Just mine.

My daughter has the i4s and has no problem connecting to our network. So my thought is it is the phone not the network.

Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated!

Peace...

What OS version ICS (Original RAZR) or JB (RAZR M)?

  • I assume your router is broadcasting it's SSID since you can see it.  If not turn it on.
  • I have a RAZR M and under: Settings > Wi-Fi > Menu (3 dots) >Advanced > Wi-Fi frequency band you can choose either Auto, 5 GHz only, 2.4 GHz only.  Select 2.4 GHz only.  I don't know if this exists for ICS.
  • There may be some interference on the channel that your router is using.  Select another channel.
  • Is your  router set to filter on MAC address?  If so turn it off or add your RAZR's MAC address.
  • If you turn off encryption on your router for just a quick test, will your RAZR connect?  If so choose another encryption method and test.

I had the same problem with my Verizon Home Fusion system.  I could not connect using the wifi password.  I was able to connect using the wps button on my router.  There is an option on the phone to turn wps on when trying to connect and then my phone said "push the wps button".  Just a thought..............

The Home Fusion password requires Capital letters for the WEP Key.

If you have Windows XP you may have to enter the SSID and the WEP Key twice.
