Why do you say that? ATT costs about the same. There are other carriers with better plans but the coverage is not as good. All US consumers are getting ripped off probably, but consider how much is costs to set up all those cell phone towers in a country the size of the USA.

I hate the cost, but choose Verizon because I never get dropped calls or bad reception - you get what you pay for.

All I see is that you've got the caps lock key depressed. That is the equivalent to shouting, and I don't listen to / read shouting.

Can't base that observation on what ya see here.

Last quarter, even with the $30 upgrade fee and new data plans, 1.35 million new subs, yet only a churn rate of .91%, lowest in industry.

I think ATT added about 500k new subs with a higher churn rate.

Actually I think it was 1.5 NET new subs. With a churn rate of .91% and a customer base of 88.8 million at the end of quarter 2 that was a loss of 800,000 customers so to get a net of 1.5 million they would have to had a total of 2.3 million new customers. So 2.3 million joined despite the fact they were all required to have the Share Everything plans which were described by the media as "rip off". Also one can assume that there were at least 12-15%( perhaps higher ) Verizon customers ( 10-13 million ) that either were on month to month or were coming to the end of their contract in quarter 3. And yet only 800,000 chose to leave.

Thanks for the much clearer understanding of the numbers than I could offer!

All these haters have been predicting all the millions of customers fleeing Verizon en mass and no new customers would sign up. Obviously the data show the opposite happening. Funny T-mobile has commercials all over TV about how they have unlimited data yet they continue to LOSE customers. Maybe using a hot chick in a leather suit is not a good way to have people take you seriously as a company.

Verizon's CFO had a more polite term for "ripoff" in his investors' meeting. He called it a "profit-generating engine" when he announced the SE plans to them. And with a paltry data allowance of ONE GIG for $50 monthly cost ($90 including smartphone access fee)  I'm most definitely inclined to agree.  Now besides AT&T, regional carrier (U.S. Cellular I think) is getting on the action. This is BIG money here they way they totally undermined and and usurped the concept of "sharing" the point of which is to SAVE money into a windfall scheme for price-gouging to satisfy investor demands for higher dividends and returns.

People wanted share plans because they expected to SAVE $30-$50 a month but these SE plans neatly cost them $30-$50 MORE a month than the single line plans they already had. Profit-generating engine it certainly is. Economical value the consumer expected it to be it certainly is NOT.

Personally I am not a big fan of Share everything for my situation as it will raise my monthly by about $45.00 per month, however it is an ideal plan for many and in some cases can save people money.

I am curious to see how many of those 800,000 people actually come back to Verizon after the new servicer honeymoon is over and the Green grass turns to  more of dirt and weeds.
