New phone number- NOT WORKING HELP

I changed my number yesterday and selected the option "to be used right away"  Well, I can't send messages or call anyone.  When I call another verizon phone it says there is an error to restart my phone and try again...still not working.  When I try to call out of state, it takes me to an option of purchasing a calling card or calling collect??? HELP.  This is my business phone and I am very busy at this time of year.  I can't be without. Thanks

Have you contacted Customer Service to see if there's a glitch at their end?  (this is a customer-to-customer forum)

Hi timelesstouch1!

I sure hope you have been able to use your phone since posting! I would like to help if you are still having problems with your new number. It seems that you may just need to program the number into the phone. Please try dialing *228 and then select option 1 when prompted. After a moment or two, you should hear a recording that your phone was programmed successfully. Please let me know if you need additional assistance!
