I keep reading in articles online and in these forums that, unless you have unlimited data, Verizon will not charge for mobile hotspot on LTE because of an FCC ruling? However, when I preordered the iPhone 5it wanted me to buy a mobile hotspot plan. So which is it?

On the unlimited data plan, the mobile hotspot is a separate charge with the cost changing when you have a 3G only smartphone or a 4G LTE smartphone. On the Share Everything plans, the hotspot is included. On the individual tiered data plans, I'm not sure how the mobile hotspot is figured in anymore.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I knew share everything had free hotspot, but not switching to that. From what I have read the iPhone 5 should have it free on any limited plan too. Trying to find confirmation. Guess I'll have to wait until one is in hand.

Its not free unless your in the everything plan. It $30 something 4g hotspot for 2 gigs. I don't think that's unlimited with reg unlimited anymore but if you upgrade you would lose your unlimited plan. Then you might be put on the everything plan.

I gave a 4g phone to my niece and she has to pay for the hotspot. Maybe only on he new plan it gas to be free and to make it free it has to be included. But on the old plans I think it's $35.
