Hi, I think you misunderstood the main thing I was trying to point out.

Your knowledge base link mentions three key steps one of which is a step that you are unable to locate:

2. Click Manage my Media

3. Click Get Started

4. Click Click to Download Desktop App

What I want you to do is check out http://www.vzw.com/baplus because it might have what you're looking for. This link http://www.vzw.com/baplus contains the exact phrases in steps two and three "Manage my Media" and "Get Started".

Furthermore, in the middle of the page this link http://www.vzw.com/baplus says:

"Download the Backup Assistant Plus desktop application to transfer media between your phone and computer."

I didn't explore this link any further because I didn't want to accidentally make any changes to my family's existing services.

There is no desktop app to download at that link.  It just takes you to log into your account to add the desktop plus to your account.  I added the free one and then it asked me about billing to my account and said something about $9.99 line access fee a month so I backed out as I was not sure it was free.  We now know there is no such desktop app even though they describe one at that link.  Mary

NRJank,

Thanks for your reply.  I don't want to use the desktop app for contacts (as you pointed out, there are lots of easy ways to back up contacts); what I want to use it for is to backup photos, videos, and documents to my computer, which is what it's supposed to do:

"Download the Backup Assistant Plus desktop application to transfer media between your phone and computer."

I have been doing this manually, but it's a clunky process. I was hoping to have a single "Backup Now" button in a desktop app for speed and simplicity. Unfortunately, despite all of Verizon's references to the mythical desktop app, it doesn't seem to exist!  Very annoying as I've spent hours on this by now.

MojaveMoon,

Yes, that's exactly the page and text I've referenced several times in my replies above, but there is no link for downloading the desktop app at that page.  Very frustrating.

I just got off the phone with support.  They say that the desktop app download has been temporarily removed from their website because there were problems with it.  They acknowledged that it's very annoying to leave up all the references to this app but make it impossible to download the thing. They don't have an ETA for when it'll be available.

So that answers the questions:  There *is* a desktop app for Backup Assistant Plus, but it is *not* currently available.

same problem here - can't find BUAP for PC.  But I found your post - and all the funny replies trying to tell you how to do something that is something altogether different from what you were looking for. šŸ™‚

You might also want to try MotoCast which can be downloaded to your PC, then install an Android App on the phone called MotoPim (not sure if this is needed but maybe - hard to tell).  Connect the Phone and Windows will swirl around installing drivers - you may have to reboot afterwards.  You should see an icon in the tray (possibly the hidden icons) for MotoHelper - looks like a grey rectangle with a red button on it.  Right click that and launch MotoCast USB.  Once that comes up, you'll find tools to back up or sync/transfer various files to/from computer/phone.

The "free" BUAP to the cloud thing is jammed up for me - gives me a network error every time it tries to sync.  I have a support ticket in going on two weeks and today tech support suggested I might want to reset the phone - like starting over with a new phone, but that seems sort of drastic - the phone was only a few days old when I saw that BUAP wasn't working.  At any rate, the whole Backup Assistant Plus thing doesn't seem ready for prime time.

Kind of a drag too when you look on the Verizon and Moto sites for apps; so many renames, things that only work with some phones, references to software that doesn't exist yet or anymore.  It was the Tech support person that turned me onto backup with MotoCast (actually MotoHelper/MotoCast USB) as MotoCast is some WEB streaming tool that doesn't do backup.  Very confusing.

More detail: http://www.mymotocast.com/

Bluetooth will let you send files from the PC to the Phone from the Bluetooth Devices window and an Android app called Blue Tooth File Transfer from Medieval Software is also very handy for sending files from the Phone.

good luck...

I signed in and typed in Backup Assistant Plus in the search, and it came up.
