Kind of interesting the reason she gives for not putting the info on the website. They could specifiy world phones w SIM cards. The winmob 6.3 HTC Touch Pro 2 that I got just about exactly 2 years ago was a world phone & it had a SIM card in it. I never used it & don't understand all that, but was very aware of the feature. & I think that said at that time anyway you could either roam or get an international plan.

Its also pretty sad that Verizon doesn't have standard answers for things so that you can trust what a rep tells you. They should train their reps on what policy is--& have a reference source where they could search to find answers so that they could give reliable, authoritiative answers, rather than what they think which may be wrong & waste a lot of customer time like I've had happen a # of times.

I'm hoping to get myself an iPhone 4S for Christmas. Want to say goodby to win mobile & all its problems & get something more reliable that will also sync with my MacBook pro, apple aps.

I can only guess but the issues with varying answers provided by VZW CS might be the same problem that occurs with a lot of companies and their CS depts...often, CS duties are outsources to firms that are paid to hire, train and provide the CS duties on behald of the company. One example would be the company Convergy's. In Clarksville TN you may say you're an employee of Convergy's (which you are since that is the company that hired you), but you handle CS calls for companies like AT&T. The employee turnover is extremely high. Training is written to last 90 days but the reality is very few training classes last more than 3 weeks at Convergy's (in Clarksville at least) before the new employees are put on the phones unassisted and providing CS. This tends to yield a high number of poor quality reports (hence the high number of turnover) yet the company continues to do this simply because the demand for immediate CS on the phone is high. I can name several other companies that do the same thing, but none of them provide CS to VZW to the best of my knowledge. Point being, it's possible the same thing happens in some cases for VZW...rushed training and having employees take calls before they are truly ready to provide quality and knowledgable assistance (the theory is that since the info is available on the computer it should help things out, but when the employees are also pushed to get through calls within a certain timeframe by any means necessary and base incentive pay on call volume)...it helps increase the possibility of customers getting varying and not completely accurate info.

Just a theory though...

This is pretty much the entire problem with the customer service industry, regardless of what company you're talking about at any given moment.

Amen to the fact that you get different answers from different Reps. when you call in to Verizon Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Totally a lack of professionism and there should be written policies for everything they offer!!!!!!!!!!!   My last phone call to a Rep. contradicted what I was told twice before but then said he could connect me to the Supervisor of the Rep I was told about an offer who was in a different building dept. and they may have the authority to give me this offer?????????????   What the hell?????   So different building Supervisors can do different things?????    FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

Well I have a few questions...

I'm from Taiwan and I have a Verizon iphone 4S.

I have to go back twice a year so that I called Verizon customer service to unlock my SIM slot for international SIM card.

They asked me for my information and the MEID something of the phone and I was told the phone is already unlocked...

So I tried to put my SIM card from a Taiwan carrier in, few seconds later, it shows "Activation Required"...So I follow the step and connect it to the WIFI...and it says "SIM is not Valid".

I called them again the guy told me that they already sent the note to apple and apple replied as approved. Says when I travel abroad, put the SIM card in and the phone will start unlocking itself..

I'm really confused about that, one of my friends did unlocked her iphone through the same way a month ago, when she put her foreign SIM card in and it will activate instead of saying "SIM is not Valid".

So how can I make sure that my phone is internationally unlocked...? I really dont want to be told my phone was not unlocked when I travel abroad...

Thanks man.
