droid razr maxx no longer funtional

I've had my droid razr maxx for less than 30 days, I was texting, then put it away, i checked for messages, then it was completely dead - the battery was 3/4 charged and it just went off and never turned back on. i tried charging it and that didn't work either. Any ideas of why it did this?? has this happened to anyone yet?

Hi Syla,

Wow, that sucks that your Maxx died like that, I would call customer service and have them troubleshoot it, if they find the issue to be a manufacturere's defect, they'll send you a replacement. Certified Like New, but at least that way you know a tech has taken a close look at it and it's functional. My Aunt has had one since it came out and LOVES it.

Good Luck!

well, i'm planning on heading to a verizon store tomorrow; thanks for the feedback. i'm really hoping it is a manufacturer's defect, i have enjoyed the phone up until it broke down.

Under the post "hey my phone turned black and i don't know what to do ?"

i tried what was mentioned there, which was a reboot:

it states in order to reboot the droid razr max one needs to hold down the power button and volume buttons at the same time - phone should go back on after a few seconds. if this does not work immediately, then charge for 1 or 2 hours and try again.

my phone did turn back on.

I'm glad the phone started up for you again.

If the charge drops too far it goes into protective mode.  Remember, with Li-ion batteries you don't need to condition them and they have no memory.  Smaller, frequent charges are actually better for the performance and life of the battery.

If you think the battery icon is not displaying the correct battery charge I would turn the phone off, charge to 100%, then discharge to 15% (no lower) and then turn it off and charge up to 100% again.  It should display the proper charge then.

If it does do the shut down again, put it on the charger for 1-2 hours first, then do the power and volume down button (not both volume buttons) - which forces a reboot.

Also, the stock battery icon is not very specific - it goes in 10% increments.  Battery Circle is a free app that will display in 1% increments in your notification bar.

I think Motorola has major problems with batteries. I just bought a Bluetooth visorunit (TX500). Said 45 hours talk time, 6 months standby.

Well, after a 24 hour charge, it died in standby within 12 hours. Waiting for the replacement.

As for the RAZR Maxx, on my second - first died within 30 days. Glad I got the replacement plan!

Had mine Since the 6 of Feb. An the Battery has worked Flawlessly i Use only the Charger that came with it or the Other Moto Chargers that i have gotten in the Past but i DO NOT charge it Via the The Computer what so Ever an i Conditioned it as i have my other Droids i pull it Down to were the Red Led Flashes. I then shut it off an Fully charge it for 4 Hours an then i trickle charge it for an additional 2 to 3 ours an as said it has done great. One thing you need to Realize Some Apps will Pull the Phone faster than others. One app i Suggest you look into an getting an Wildman would Suggest this to you as Well is System Panel App it is Free but for a coupe Bucks you can get the Paid Version i this one an it Will show what that Maxx is Doing everything from the Cpu to the Temps of the Batter. Give it a look i think you will like it.. b33 Smiley Happy
