I'm in Atlanta and have no 4G or 3G. Don't know when it started; it's 3:40 pm (Eastern) now. When this happened on Dec. 7 a local rep told me it was due to some system maintenance that went wrong. I asked him how often this kind of thing happens. The last time was 6 months ago, he said. Oops. If this is going to happen a couple of times a month, I'm definitely asking for a refund. A company that promotes itself on the basis of its great network obviously needs to do better than this.

Out in Houston, TX as well still. 3G is returning on and off. This is bull**bleep**. Why am I paying for a 4g service and america's supposedly MOST RELIABLE network again? I love the fact that the reps never reply to this thread.

Columbia, MD has been without 4G for most of the day, 3G comes up for a few minutes and goes back down again.  This is the 3rd time I know of this month that this has happened to me.  I've been a loyal customer of Verizon for many years because of their reliability, and now 3 months into a new 2 year agreement with what is right now a really expensive paper weight, I'm wondering how wise of a choice this was.

had 4g this morning, but after lunch no data connection and now it's 3g.  I stopped at the Verizon store yesterday after work because quite honestly I'm sick of this....they said that they had no reports of any issues with the 4G network and that I should call Verizon warranty to have them switch out the phone for the 3rd time.  I told him I was shocked that they weren't aware of the 4g/3g outages across the country as the forum has a discussion that is 40+ pages long concerning this exact issue.

My 4G was on for about 20 minutes, but just quit again.  It's 2:55 Central Time.

I unfortunately just bought a new device today and since 3 hours ago I have not had service because my new 4G LTE phone won't program. UGH so frustrating.

I'm now (in the last 5 minutes) getting 3G fairly steadily.

 

This post makes a reference to this article, which has an explanation about why 4G service can be intermittent. It doesn't address the kind of system-wide outages we're seeing; but the now-and-then loss of signal may be due to authentication problems between phones and the network. It's a short article and pretty easy to follow; worth a read.

 

And here is another post on Android Police, noting today's widespread outage (should that be the name of Verizon's in-house rock band?) and with an actual statement from Verizon. They speak! Just not to their customers!

I too made the mistake of upgrading to a 4g phone today. Now I'm without service on my new or old device with verizon saying nothing is wrong

I'm in Los Angeles and I have had intermittent data outages all day. If I am lucky enough to get 3G, it lasts for about 5 minutes and then I lose data completely. I haven't seen 4G yet today. GRRRR....super frustrating.
