I preformed the 2.23 update on a Mac with OSX 10.6.5. I did not receive any error mesages during the "flash."
For some reason, I am unable to roll back to 2.16 without the installer freezing on a blank page.
I've fallen back to my old Mifi 2200 for 'net access.

This "upgrade" has not worked for me. It'll still go dormant and then nothing works on the web. EXCEPT... I can ping outside ip addresses and do a dns lookup all day long. I just can't surf and it's been acting the same way since before I updated the firmware.
This thing is a joke. I never had issues like this with the 2200. FIX THIS!!!
Only way to get it working again is to disconnect and hit connect again. Something is definitely wrong with this device. I've tried from multiple platforms and I can reproduce this problem all day long. It's only a matter of time.

Already been there and done that.... and given the amount of threads and replacements that have been given out with no success, what does that matter anyway?

When I try to connect the "bricked" 2.23 unit I get Windows installing it as a USB Human Interface Device. Am I missing something?

This worked for me. I was able to successfully apply 2.23 using the XP installer.
For some reason, Verizon had also deactivated my old SIM when I initiated a warrenty replacement.
The support staff were able to get it reactivated after ~45 minutes of troubleshooting similar to what I had gone through over the phone.
I've been able to connect to both the EVDO and LTE networks with no major problems since last evening.

Thanks for the updates everyone,
Here is a quick summary of the issues that have been posted:
1) Mac firmware client:
It sounds like there is an issue with the Firmware Update software for Mac's. The quick solution appears to be reflashing the firmware with a Windows computer.
2) Bricked/Non-responsive MiFi:
A few users have reported that the firmware update has broken thier MiFi. Followup's have reported that Verizon is replacing these devices if the firmware update itself is to blame.
3) Better performance?
Reviews are mixed. Some users are reporting better results after the firmware update. Others are reporting no improvement. Anything else that has been reported has been tied back to a bricked/failed device. Verizon appears to be replacing those bricked devices. In general I would conclude thus far that the firmware update has not made any existing issues worse.

If you have a "bricked" Mifi, and Windows update will not work, here's what I've done and it seems to work:
- - run the installer, the Mifi will show up as a USB Human Interface Device, and the upgrade will not start (cannot find the device)
- - the installer leaves a directory (C:\MiFi4510L) and there's a program called DUU_Verizon_MiFi4510L.exe
- - run that program, it will find the Mifi, and ask if you want to enable the modem functions of the Mifi.
- - answer yes, then disconnect and hit the reset button under the battery door.
- - now reattach to your PC, and rerun the upgrade program. this time it will work.
