I was told it was free by my Best Buy sales person.  They were a bit ambivalent but assured me that this was a service provided by Verizon.  Just got my phone and am learning that almost everything you want to do, other than talk, will require you to sign on to a cost program.  Had no problem with AT&T and micro card.  Plus is better reception and coverage but not happy that services are not explained better and costs revealed.

So AT&T does not charge for you to send picture messages and you don't need a texting plan?  I can't believe that at all.   I have no trouble with verizon and my micro card.  I take the photos, then insert the micro card into the computer card reader and up pop my pictures.  I can't believe someone could be so nieve to think you don't need  a texting plan to send photos.  Name one carrier that gives you that for free?

AT&T also requires a data package on a smart phone just like verizon so how is that any different, so do other carriers, you want all those extras you pay for them on every carrier.  Too bad you didn't go to an authorized verizon store to get your info and find out that texting was extra.  Even if you browse the plans online you can clearly see that texting with pix and flix is extra.  I just don't get why people don't do their homework on this stuff then sign the conract and gripe about verizon when it's clealry the salespeople at best buy's fault because they just want to make the sale.  I bet you got a great deal on the phone though going through them.

I would suggest the next time you do a transaction at best buy you get the salesman's name and make him put in writing what he is telling you so you can go back and raise a stink for lying.  Mary
