Hi,
I have had my phone since its' release and am stil trying to figure things out. One seemingly unsolvable issue is how to either get rid of the current ringback tone or change it. Does anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance for your responses.

You have to manage your ringback tones from the Verizon Website. That is a Verizon system feature and you can't manage it from your iPhone directly.

Unless the OP meant to type ringtone it appears they are asking about the ringback tones you can purchase from VZW for callers to hear when calling you instead of the standard ringing, not ringtones that you use on your phone.

Verizon Wireless RingBack tones can be managed by visiting vzw.com/rbt Once you sign in, you can change the default RingBack tone to whatever you like, purchase new RingBack tones, or even change it back to a standard ring.
I checked, and this feature is not available by dialing #RBT or using the iPhone's My Verizon app. It will only be available via the website. I hope that answers your question. Let us know if you have any other!

Of course, the flip side of that would be the proliferation of ringtones by Justin Bieber or Snookie. Hmm, Tri-tones may not be so bad after all...

I know this is slightly off-topic, but I do wish more people would take the time to get some more individualized ringtones. You can always tell the iPhone crowd, when one rings, everyone looks at theirs. Not me. Mine rings and I immediately get the "how did you do that" questions. I make 'em, don't buy 'em...

Not everyone...actually, not most iPhone users buy their ringtones either. They make them...hearing a ringtone from a popular artist isn't a red flag to iPhones being in the crowd. Since you can make your own ringtones for many devices it's safe to say that any body wanting to use something that stands out over the normal music tone or stock tone could do so if they take the time to create it and make it compatiable to their device. For many, those tones you hear ARE individualized for them...there is a reason they chose that song (the beauty of music is it's ability to have significant meaning or be connected to something the listener enjoys)...honestly, sometimes I miss the days of a phone just ringing...like a phone lol.
