But I'm perplexed about why there is no missed call alert, as was the case on the first iPhones as well as all of the Androids. Even the now-lowly Moto Razr could be set to beep for a certain interval and number times when a call was missed.
So might there be an app for that?
And it seems that there could be an iPhone app section in the Apple forums.
But they didn't ask me...)

The iPhone 4S does alert you of a missed call with a display on the lock screen but as far as I know there is no audible missed call alert. My Thunderbolt didn't even do that and it was an android. If it didn make a noise, it only happened once, not repeatedly.

Correct, I'm looking for an audible alert of a missed call, something I haven't seen since the Moto Razr days. There are some Android apps that I tried when I was in that world, but none of them actually worked as I had hoped...

"missed call" for android has never failed me. i'm surprised that there isn't something similar in the iphone app market? i can set it to vibrate or set a tone, and the interval (every five minutes, etc) and for how long (1 reminder, 5 reminders, until i acknowledge, etc). it just seems like it would be a fairly simple app?

Currently Apple, Inc does not allow background applications. In order to achieve the functionality listed above you must start the Missed Call application before putting your phone down.

It seems like that is a really old app (referring to a 2.2.X firmware).
