HELP! My WiFi doesnt want to work anymore! It was there then POOF gone!

I was in bed last night, couldnt sleep so I got my Droid X and was messing around on the net when all of a sudden POOF! my WiFi didnt work anymore. I figured the battery was too low or something so I plugged it in over night. Where I live I have no cell service to rely on my wifi to use my phone for internet stuff. Anyway, this morning I tried to get it to work again and it still doesnt. It says its turned ON and SCANNING for wifi but never finds my internet. It stays on scanning. Never had this issue before. Ive rebooted and have even taken the battery out for a while, nothing seems to be helping at all. Any ideas? Id rather not go back to factory settings if I dont have to.

Thanks!

Have you tried rebooting your WiFi router?

I need a supervisor to get invovled with my ongoing Droid X mobile hotspot (not working) . I have called Verizon 4 times, and have been to Tier 2 support with Motorola twice. The hot spot worked great until i did a phone system update 4.5.605 (android 2.3.3). Now after activating the hot spot, the phone "locks up" after 10-15 minutes of use. The FINAL solution was to send me a new phone at full price! I would be HAPPY to pay for a new phone, but at special pricing. I do not think the DroidX is broke , it is a software issue, not a broken phone. I realize I am a small customer, but I have been with verizon, since before it was verizon (approximately 1989)....please help

you don't need to spam multiple posts with the same thing....that's a good way not to get help, but rather be flagged as a potential spammer. I understand you are having problems, but have you also tried to request a supervisor by calling customer support and asking for your issue to be escalated?

yes I did... several times, all the other computers work just fine on the router. the phone when from scanning to connecting to disconnecting in about 10 seconds or less. I did reset my phone to see if that helps and it did not.

thanks

My other computers work with my Netgear too, but not my X. I think that there is a incompatibility with the X for some reason. Not sure why.

Thank you all for your feedback.

@pilotdave01,

I'm here to help. I understand your concern and apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Did you start having this issue as soon as you updated to Gingerbread or did you notice this a while after the update? Have you tried a hard reset? Sometimes it's a good idea to perform a hard reset on the device after a software update. Click here for steps on how to perform a hard reset. Please keep in mind that a hard reset will erase all data on your phone and reset the device back to manufacturer settings. Make sure you save things you want to keep before performing the hard reset.

If after the hard reset you are still experiencing an issue with the Mobile Hotspot, please contact us and we'll be more then happy to further assist you and discuss other options. If your phone is under warranty and there is no physical damage on the device we can replace the phone with a Certified Like-New phone of the same model at no cost to you. However, before we can discuss other options a hard reset must be performed. In many cases we have found this step to resolve a number of issues.

I hope this information is helpful. Let us know if you need further assistance.

I experience the same problem on 3G dropping after the upgrade.  I worked with a VZ rep on the phone and did the complete factory reset; however 3G continues to drop every 1 - 5 minutes.  After all the work, his only solution was to suggest I buy a new phone since I have had the Driod X more then 1 year  and the warranty is over.  Please escalate this software issue to your technicians because I would prefer not to just buy a new phone.

@Lawrence - I would suggest that after doing a "SEARCH" for your issue using the SEARCH BARup above, you open a separate thread with your specific problem rather than hi-jack this thread which is about "WiFi not working" ...  just a thought to maybe get you some specific help.

I had this same issue. My wifi simply would not connect, it kept cycling through looking for an IP address. Everything else in my house, including my husband's droid,  would connect just fine, and my phone would connect to the router at my parents house. Following the helpful hints here and with Verizon, I tried cycling my router, then I did a factory reset on my phone which was incredibly frustrating and absolutely no help. About three days after I factory reset my phone and a week and a half after it started on my phone, my wii wouldn't connect and a couple days later my lap top. Finally, I completely unplugged my router and left it off for a couple minutes. When I plugged it back in, magically everything logged back in. The next time, my husbands phone lost its wifi connection, yet mine was still working. Again we had to unplug the router to get it back.

BTW. I've got a 2 wire router from at&t. Don't know if this helps.

Most of the time, Factory reset is the advice you get. I've reset my phone 3 times in a year and a half, and it's never resolved my issue. I usually find some other really simple solution, but not until I'm banging  my head against the wall reinstalling and managing my settings.  :smileywink:
