amazingly the issue cleared itself up - last night it just stopped blinking and actual started working correctly again. IE when i had a text/message/email/etc...

maybe the kinks are being worked out of the update - now if only my weather apps would work again

How about notifications from other apps?  Facebook, Twitter, Handcent, Weather, Google Talk, News Alerts, .... etc.

no notifications from anything - facebook 9/10 cant find the network, weather apps cannot find my location 100% of the time, no twitter updates, no g+ updates and when i do get a text or email it isnt telling me. when i put the phone down and the screen times out the green light starts to blink.

the second i unlck the screen the blinking stops.

this update has been awful for the droid 2 global - awful is putting it nicely

Three other thoughts:

  1. Remove the battery for at least 1 minute.  (This one for notifications)
  2. Check to see if Data Saver is on.  Menu > Settings > Battery & data manager > Data saver.  If Data Saver is checked then downloads will wait for WiFi.  (This one for other problems with data/communication updates)
  3. Do a cache clear for the whole phone (preferred) or individually for the suspected troublesome apps.

data saver is NOT on.

what will a cache clear do?

how do you do it?

now i am starting to get dropped calls - to say i am upset with my phone is one huge understatement

Clearing cache will get rid of temporary data used by your phone giving the OS a clean slate to write on..  It will not remove any apps or permanent date (passwords, email addresses, contacts, etc.)

Turn phone off.

Slide out the keyboard.

Power the phone on by pressing and holding the Power button and the X on the keyboard at the same time.  When the red Motorola logo appears you can let go of the power button, but continue to hold the X until a triangle with a ! inside and a little green android appears.  Release the X Key.

Press both VOLUME keys at the same time to display the menu.  Best way is to press in the very middle of the volume key.

Using the arrow keys on your keyboard navigate the menu to select Wipe Cache Partition. Activate the selection by pressing the Return key (big key 90 degree down-left arrow).

When finished, navigate to Reboot System Now and push the Return key.  Your phone will now reboot.

My guess is dropped calls is a Verizon or signal strength problem and not your phone.  But I could be wrong.

With this post I'm out of ideas.  A flashing green light is a notification of some kind.  You have already eliminated email, text, Facebook, Twitter, etc.  How about Missed Call and Voicemail.  Clear your Voicemail messages and see if it goes away.  As a last resort call Verizon tech support and explain the problem.  Ask them to reset your Voicemail to zero.

Are there any notifications in the black bar at the top of your screen when you pull it down?  If so clear them.

Good luck.

What sort of update did you do?  The Over the Air gingerbread .607 update, or did you manually install (.606. prerooted 606, 607 for example)

The reason I ask is that most people seem to be very happy with the update.  The issues reported by some are:

1) Backlights working backwards, off in dark, on in light.

2) Camera defaults to widescreen and changes made don't stick.

3) Phone automatically turns on after being powered down.

You are obviously having a worse time!
