Is anyone aware of a way to turn off or uninstall Backup Assistant? There is absolutely no need for me to have it syncing contacts every day when my contacts are already synced with my google account. I'd prefer it not waste that data usage.
Thanks!

there is no way to turn it off or uninstall it from your phone, but you can stop data usage for it.
Log into backup assistant on the web, and remove all the contacts from it. With nothing to sync it will nothing will happen.
You do want to make sure that all contacts are in Google contacts before you wipe them out from backup assistant.
If you happen to do a factory reset at any time, when it asks to setup backup assistant, press cancel.......

You can tell on the phone by looking at a contact. If you go into 'Edit Contact' it will tell you if it was a Google Contact/Backup Assistant contact/Phone only contact.
When I seen that, I exported all my contacts in Backup assitant, loaded them into Google contacts, then removed all Backup assitant contacts...... I didn't like the way backup assistant handled dates for birthday/anniversary etc.

You can disable BA without deleting contacts by going to Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All Tabs / Sync Services / Clear Data.
