On any onther day I love verizon and I've been a customer for 8 years now, but this particular day I ended up annoyed! For the price that we pay for phone planes and devices we should be able to send text messages to non verizon customers through the computer. I just got off the phone with customer service and it's just not possible at the moment, but I was told they will present this to whomever...YEAH RIGHT! Come on Verizon get with it, and please if this does become possible in the future don't add on a fee just to use it.

It's verizon's vault because they don't have the codes for other carrier's on the home page right in your face and one has to goggle for the info. I am guessing the verizon rep did not understand what they wanted to do. Maybe they should supply the codes for other carriers in the reps hand book so they will be informed next time someone calls and not give a response of it can't be done but we will pass it along.
On a side note my one friend on AT&T didn't know she could send to me from computer by using @vzwpix.com so I guess that would be AT&T's fault. Mary

You aren't missing a thing lewisr13 - it's NOT Verizon's fault at all.

You can do this whether you have an account with Verizon, AT&T, or any carrier. You don't even have to have a cell phone to send a text to someone who DOES have a cell phone!
It's up to the person you want to text to supply you with the address to send the email. That is, if you are using email to send the text. There are other sites that let you send texts and all you need is the recipients phone number. It has nothing to do with YOUR cell phone carrier.
