Short answer, No. You will never know the content of the messages, the only thing you may be able to find is the number that the messages were sent to. Time for that "trust and resposibility" talk, or block txt all together.

What if the phone is set up under a child in a family plan? can the adults of the plan read the contents of the text messages online? I personally believe that none of the texts contents should be made public to anyone and think that if they can be viewed, it is a legal issue of verizons privacy policy.

The content of messages sent/received cannot be viewed without a subpoena. The only content that is viewable online is the number a text was sent to or received from.
