retrieving deleted voice mail

forgive my ignorance....is there a way to retrieve a voice mail that has been deleted?

You can only retrieve a deleted voicemail if it's in the same VM session. So if you delete it and then hang up that VM is gone forever.

Well it depends how long ago the voicemail was deleted. When I call voicemail it gives me an option to press "1 9" to retreive deleted voicemails from the archive.

I have a very basic phone.  Thought I saved a very important voicemail but when I checked voicemail later through "messaging" it kept saying "no voicemail".  Finally I remembered *86 is another way to reach voicemail, and fortunately the message was still there - saved for 21 days.

I know this was replied to back in 2009 but I wanted to say to rjb1223 THANK YOU!!! Thanks to your reply I was able to retrieve and re-save a message from my military bf that Verizon had deleted from my phone without warning.
