Android Issues

OK so i have been through the original Droid, the samsung fascinate, and now the Droid X. Up until about a month ago i had no problems with my X. Now it randomly restarts itself, freezes up and screws up my contacts all the time. I have to take the battery out numerous times a day. I bought this phone for full retail price. I do not want to do warranty due to the fact that I do not have the patience for going through 10 phones which is exactly what will happen. I need advice on what I can do because I am officially getting fed up with Verizon and I am thinking of going to another phone company.

You want to leave Verizon because your Motorola phone is having issues? Hhhmmmmm..... try deleting some recently installed apps. Could be a compatibility issue. That's where I would start. Also you can do a search on this forum with the searchword of

Also you can do a search on this forum with the searchword of random reboots and force closures. Good luck. Just try and remember Verizon provides the network but they don't make phones.

We do not want to loose you as a customer.  I recommend doing a factory reset of your phone.  Resetting the phone will allow you to take your time and re-download your apps.  It is possible that one of your downloaded apps is causing the phone to not function properly.  I have provided instructions from page 51 of your user guide below.  I have also provided a link to the online guide below:

Troubleshooting

we’re here to help

Crash recovery

In the unlikely event that your phone stops responding

to touches and key presses, try a quick reset. Remove

the back cover and battery (“Assemble & charge” on

page 3), then replace and switch your phone on as

usual.

Reset

To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all

the data on your phone, press Menu > Settings

> Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone.

Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.

(Nothing on your memory card is deleted.)

I'd also like to point out that most people who have problems with replacement phones are having those problems because of apps, bad battery or bad SD card.

Just for poops and giggles, try backing up your SD card, then format it.

That is a good suggestion, I would give this option a try before you go for the hard reset..
