no export required. when you get new device, setup backup assistant again and contacts will be added.
i setup the gmail account because it was required for the dx and contacts in gmail will be added when you setup the gmail acc't on the new phone as a backup to ba.
some folks here don't use ba, just mail for backup
Thank you. I'm not sure my new phone will have the backup assistant capability however. I am downgrading to a simple phone and will not have a data plan. Trying to save $$.
