LG Ally: How do you "delete files" to continue messaging?

When I went in to send a text, the text box was gone and a balloon popped up and said "Phone storage full! Delete some files to make room".  What file do I need to delete?

Please delete some of your Text Messages. You can simply go to your inbox and choose "Options" then "Delete All." You can also follow these steps to have your phone auto-delete messages to avoid this error in the future: 

Messages>Settings>Auto Delete>ON
