How do I save ringtones on my Droid X?

I downloaded three ring tones and received the text messages but there is no option to save the ringtones to my phone.  Ultimately, I want to tag the ringtones to certain contacts.

1. Go to Text Messages view, threader veiw that shows the pic preview when its not opened.

2. Press and hold on Pic for ringer

3. Select Save Audio from the list

4. Now the audio file should be saved in SD/Messages folder

5. Copy file to SD Card/Media/Audio/Ringtones

6. Restart

7. Ringers can be set through stock ringer options menus.

1. Open Contact

3. Edit

4. Scroll to Additional Info

When you open the msg containing the rigntone, did you try long-pressing on the actual ringtone file? An option to "set as ringtone" or something like that may be an option there.   What are you using as a Texting APP ???
