Hi- So far, the ONLY thing I don't love about my new iPhone is that I can't seem to find a way to tell whether or not my messages have been delivered. On all my old phones, I would have a check mark or some other icon that showed when a message had been delivered. I have looked at some apps and things but have not been able to find anything that will work for the iPhone on Verizon. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.

Roy,
Thanks for the information regarding the delivery SMS reports. However, I do not believe that you are understanding our concern correctly. We do not want to know whether or not they actually read the message (as Blackberry Messenger shows). We simply want to know whether or not the message reached the recipient's cellular device. For instance, on every previous phone that I had, when I sent a text message a check mark would appear next to the message meaning that it was successfully sent. And when their deviced RECEIVED it, not necessarily OPENED it, a "D" would appear next to the check mark indicating that the message had successfully been delivered.
Now with the iPhone I can count about 10 instances already (within 3 weeks) where I have sent a text message and then I have never received a response for him/her. I asked why they had not responded and they told me that they did not receive a text from me and proved that to me by showing me their cell phone.
It is inconvenient for us as customers that our SMS services are not reliable. I thought the iPhone was supposed to be "THE" phone? I am unsatisfied, and debating on whether or not I should return to my Blackberry.
Also, why isn't every SMS timestamped? That is a bit weird too. It seems like it just randomly decided when to throw a timestamp in there... confusing?
Thanks for listening to my rant,
Geoff

The little send indicator on top is what I use. When send bar is filled up, its sent.

Delivered and sent are two different things, I believe they mean how can you tell that the person you sent the msg to that their phone actually received the msg. I know on my other phone it would say "pending" if perhaps their phone was off or out of service, however if their phone was on and it actually got the msg it would show up "delivered". I have not found a way to do this with the iphone either.

This is what I am trying to figure out, too. Before on my old verizon phones there would be a checkmark to show the recipient had received it. If it had not been received yet/opened, it would be an outgoing arrow. I can't seem to find out how ot do this with the iphone. I tried downloading a third party app, but that is not working correctly either.

When it doesn't send a red exclamation mark shows to the right of the message. I got one yesterday and that is the only reason I know.

The delivery receipt function you are referencing has been disabled from our network, and is not available with any devices we offer. On our current phones, you are alerted when your message was accepted by the network, but there is no way to be notified if the recipient actually opened the message.
Thanks,
