Deleting email from phone and not server

I have a yahoo account.  When I delete emails on my Droid X from this account it deleted it from the yahoo server as well.  How can I prevent this?

That is an option you set up on GOOGLE MAIL ...  check your email settings there ONLINE.

Take a look at K9 mail, and also I use a plug in for that which gives me those options for my email but it is not yahoo.

Update:  Actually there doesn't appear to be an option in Google to "leave email" ...   What I experience is that when I delete email on my phone (using Yahoo), THE EMAIL STILL REMAINS IN THE trash FOLDER of YAHOO ....  so if you go to your YAHOO email account ONLINE (mail.yahoo.com), you'll still see all the emails in the TRASH folder.  You can move them to other folders as you so desire.

Does that help?

is this a trick question? if you don't want to delete, don't delete.

it's not like outlook express or outlook where i can choose to leave mail on the server for "x" amout of days or until i delete it.

that's not part of the pkg with web mail.

I do not see it as a trick question. I use mine for business and use an exchange server.

It looks like we do not have the option of picking where we want to delete the mail like on a blackberry which ask "if you want to delete on handheld, or handheld and server". This is a very important option to have for business users...otherwise I'd have literally thousands of e-mails on my phone.

i'm not really sure what you're talking about.

i just sent 4 emails from my pc/outlook express, pop3 acc't and picked them up thru the pop3 acc't that has both pop3/smtp servers entered + authentication on both servers, on the droid x.

i deleted them from the phone, reopened outlook express and they hadn't been removed from the server and came into the inbox and i do not have the box checked in oe/advanced to keep a copy on the server.

what email are you using for your bizness, webmail, outlook, outlook express or something else?

it sounds like you have setup or protocol issues in the account you're accessing.

Yeah, my other 2  pop3 accounts are just as you described. It's my Corp Sync account that I am referring to. It's a known problem. The company uses Outlook. No issues on setup. It's doing as programmed. The feature was not put in, but hopefully will be for business uses in the future...

it could be something that the it folks have to do to setup/allow for you to access.

Thank you Community Members for posting troubleshooting tips.  To piggy back on this response, and if you want a Corporate Exchange account to sync with your device, you will need the $44.99 data plan for this access.  Once this feature is added, your company will then setup your permissions to allow your Corporate emails to be pushed out off of their network.  If you don't have the $44.99 data feature in place, and if you are the Account Owner, you can update your features online by signing in to your "My Verizon" account using your Account Owner Number and password and do the following:

1. Click on “Change Features” icon located under “Plans” in the “I Want To” section at the bottom of your home page.

2. Add/Remove applicable features and choose effective date.

I hope this helps and enjoy the day!
