Cost to Send Image from Phone to Online Album

I was under the impression that it was supposed to be free to send photos I took with the camera on my cell phone to the online album.

So why was the bill about a $100 this month? I can't afford that. :womansad: How am I supposed to get the photos off of my LG VX5500 for free?

I'm only a part of a family plan but with things like they are now I won't be going with verizon when I can get my own plan.

Okay so about 130 people have viewed this but none have two cents to toss in?

Seriously? Does anyone know if it costs anything to send a photo from a cell phone to the online album?

Okay so I have no texting plan to speak of and I have a camera on my phone that I have been using as a back up to my regular camera as I was under the impression that it was frees, but from what I have dredged up it's .25 a pic apparently.

I have a slew of photos still on my cell that I would like on my computer. Does anyone know how I can get them from my cell to my computer for FREE? Otherwise I don't really have much use for this phone. Having a cell with a camera that I can't use is like giving someone a professional grade camera and then telling them they have to make the image with a half broken crayon.

On a somewhat related note, why doesn't Verizon have a page of how much different things cost? I should not have to dig through the forums to find how much something is. That is just ridiculous.

hi Elistariel -
With no texting plan, it is 25 cents per picture message. The LG VX5500 (same phone my daughter has) does not use a memory card, so you can try two different programs on your computer (both free) and see if either one will get the pics off and saved on your computer; from there you can upload to your online album without a per picture charge.

You can try Verizon's VCast media manager - download and install it on your computer, then use the USB cable to link the phone to the computer and transfer the pics with VCast.

Here's a link

A third party program called BitPim will also work, but it's more technical and does a lot more than just transfer your media. It can also brick your phone if you don't know what you are doing, so it's "use at your own risk", as Verizon won't cover any losses due to using BitPim. It does work though--I have used it, very cautiously!

In addition to the helpful information SuzyQ provided I have included a link to view the cost of picture messages on the verizon wireless website. Click here for additional information http://support.vzw.com/clc/faqs/Picture%20Messaging/per_recipient_billing.html

Where did you get it was free?  Texting on verizon is not free you either pay per text or get a plan.  Next you should research before you do things so you don't get stuck with a big bill.    Mary

I hooked up my phone to my computer via USB device and downloaded VCast, but since the VX5500 doesn't have a seperate memory card how can I get my photos off my phone and onto the computer?

You can send them to your email as a text but it will cost 25 cents per text if you don't have a texing plan so if it's not a lot of photos not too expensive.  Just input your email address instead of a phone number when you send the text.  I find this so much easier than fiddling with a cable and stuff.   I was hoping the original poster would update on why the bill was $100 as you would have had to send a ton of pictures at 25 cents each for it to be that much over.  Mary

I was told it was free by my Best Buy sales person.  They were a bit ambivalent but assured me that this was a service provided by Verizon.  Just got my phone and am learning that almost everything you want to do, other than talk, will require you to sign on to a cost program.  Had no problem with AT&T and micro card.  Plus is better reception and coverage but not happy that services are not explained better and costs revealed.
