Hidden Text Messages

Hello, can someone please help me with my text messaging.  Recently, when typing my text messages while my screen is rotated (long way), when typing the message is hidden.  When I go to send the message, I can see what I typed.  Any suggestions?

Move/scroll the text up before typing? Change layout with a text app like Handcent?
