I started having problems with my text messages not coming through as quickly as usual about 2 weeks ago. I was able to "push" them through by texting myself from my phone, then all my texts would dump into my inbox. Now even that doesn't help. It still takes anywhere from 1 to 3 hours for my text messages to be received in my inbox. Is something up with Verizon?
Try a battery pull and a PRL update. Remove the battery from your device, wait about 30 seconds, place your battery back into your device and power on. Once your device is powered on, dial *228 option 2 to update your device.
