I'm receiving text msgs coming from Unverified Sender. I realize these are web-based texts however, how and where are they sent from? They are not from my friends and are unwelcome.
Any feedback on these harrassing texts would be appreciated.

It could be almost anything, would need mroe detail to narrow it down. The first thing you'll want to do for sure though is make sure that you are not subsrcibed to any premium txts. Premium txts are nasty little buggers that you accidently sign up for (and ususally don't know you did until you get charged) and you are then charged $9.99 a month per subscription. One example of premium txt would be the commercials that you see on tv that say "Txt "JOKE" to 5963 for 5 free jokes. However, once you do this, you are subscribed until you unsubscribe. Unfortunately the companies that do this are becomming more and more sneaky and aggressive and many people sign up accidently, expecially online.
The fix? txt the word "Stop" and send that back. If it's spam or premium txt messaging, they have to stop sending it to you once you send that txt to them.
If that doesn't work, your only other option is to call tech support so they can fix it on the back end. Some phones, like Blackberrys and other smartphones, have a setting to block spam and advertisements as well. Also, you can have premium txt messaging blocked completely by calling care or using the self-service option in your my verizon account.

hese texts are from individuals - not premium texts. Does anyone else have an answer as to how an individual sends these texts and how I can determine who is sending them?

Text to cells can be sent from any number of sites online for free. Someone probablly knows how to work it so they come in like that I am thinking. Some people have nothing better to do than learn how to do this stuff and annoy people. Have no clue how you can find out. Mary

You probably can't, that's why they do it that way so they can't be traced. Sounds like spammers got your number. Mary

Hi sophiejeanne,
Receiving messages from unknown sources can be very frustrating. It sounds as if you are receiving text messages that are sent from the internet. I am not sure where the messages are exactly coming from. However, if you would like to block any messages sent from the internet you can do so via your My Verizon account , selecting Spam Controls and Internet Spam blocking. Here is the link for Spam Controls. I hope this information if helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional concerns.
Thank you for your contribution to our community forums,
