Does mobile IM use any internet or data? I have the Nationwide Select plan that includes unlimited texting... Will i get charged internet fees.. or does it go towards texting?

Mobile IM just uses text messages. Each IM sent/received counts as one text. That's all you'll be billed for.
The Great One is right - the only "data" that may involve a charge is the initial download of the app. Mine was installed on the phone when I got it.
I just log in, and messages are all counted as text. No data charges.
