I keep getting notification regarding my Device. It says device software modified. Your device may be at risk. Do not know what to do. I ran a virus scan and there were no issues. Help.

That is very interesting. Let's see what is going on. Have the software updated recently?

Where are you seeing this message? If it appears in browsers such as Chrome, IE, Opera etc, it is fake and called ransomware. They are trying to trick you to entering your CC details to remove the 'viruses'.

Has anybody found the answer? So many people are reporting this about Android Galaxy 5 & 6 on various carriers, not just Verizon. Verizon Support remotely accessed my wife's phone and could not find any virus or other malware. They told us the hardware was fine, but the phone had been "rooted," ie the OS was modified. Once Samsung learned about Verizon's response, they washed their hands off--"can't help you anymore."

Here's one explanation (since it happened after an OS update): the latest update conflicts with earlier ones and so Samsung won't let the OS update. When the phone is turned on after being off for a while it will reboot to Custom (Unlocked) after a prolonged effort. If my wife doesn't turn it off, it's fine. I wish our carriers would figure out what's going on. I know our next phones are going to be iPhones, but I would like to stay with Verizon.

WILHAR60, we want to make sure we help you find a resolution to the problems you are having with your wife's phone.  The next step in troubleshooting would be to have you preform a complete factory data reset on the phone.  This will get it back to its factory settings.

From a Home screen, tap Apps Applications icon (located in the lower-right).

2. Tap Settings.

3. Tap Privacy.

4. Tap Factory data reset.

5. Tap Reset phone.

Note If presented, enter the current passcode or draw the unlock pattern.

6. Tap Erase everything.

Note Allow up to 10 minutes for the factory data reset and reboot processes to complete.

Note To set up the device after the reset has completed, refer to Initial Activation and Setup.

How can this be the correct answer? Did you respond back to Verizon and get this straighten out? Can someone tell us how this was worked out. Did Ralph get WILHAR60 phone to work right???

I saw a "like" from kathy65793, but can't find her comment here. No, Kathy, the problem with my wife's Galaxy S5 has not been fixed. Also, as others have reported, since that last OS update, the battery drains faster. I sent Ralph a direct response reminding him that we had been through all the trouble-shooting steps multiple times and it was a "Ralph" who informed my wife that the phone was "rooted" after accessing it remotely. I am unwilling to spend more time repeating the same steps. Samsung will not help me because the phone is rooted. I will probably just wait and get an iPhone which, I am told, has the best Support and supports older models longer than Samsung or Google/HTC. Verizon has the best network coverage, otherwise I'd probably look elsewhere for a provider as well.
