I am having this same issue. For me, activating the edge screen scroll and letting it time out only works whenever it feels like it.

I'm also experiencing the phone saying it has restarted and requiring my password even when it was simply locked. To make matters better (extreme sarcasm), the phone will randomly lock itself (usually at the most inopportune moment) and glitch for a few minutes without even letting me type the password/use the touch screen at all. After a few minutes of that, it sometimes allows me to input the password and continue on, business as usual.

But more and more often now, I find myself having to restart (typically manually by removing the battery on bad days) just to be able to access the phone at all; and even then it takes an inordinate amount of time for the screen to be responsive enough for me to input the password.

This is not to mention the ridiculous overheating and quick drainage of the battery -- I have two spares that I keep fully charged, and I end up having to keep the phone on the charger most of the day anyways.

It makes sense in that the night clock is unique to the note edge and isn't working right after this "common" update to Marshmallow. I guess we'll see what happens but thank you for the work around tip!

This is good information, blackbird19. I wonder if it helps explain why I can't get scrollbars to work in almost every app (reported here).

I am having the same issue. I love the Night Clock (I wish I could control the brightness), but it has ceased to function since I received the update about a week ago. Turning off the alarm on the built-in clock worked for me as well, but it is frustrating that this issue has existed for over a month now with no fix.

We want to make sure that you can utilize your device, Mishifitz. What troubleshooting steps have you already performed to attempt to resolve this issue? I want to make sure that we skip any steps you might have already attempted.

The following is what I've tried so far:

  1. I've booted into recovery multiple times to wipe the cache partition.
  2. I've booted into safe mode, which temporarily allayed the battery and overheating problems, but could not determine any specific app(s) causing the problems.
  3. I regularly go through the settings-->storage menu to clear all cached data.
  4. I restarted multiple times on multiple days to make sure all apps are updated and optimized.
  5. I ended up just taking off my fingerprint lock and reverting to a basic swipe lock, because at this point the lack of security is preferable to the "you have to input your password" problem.
  6. I've even installed battery/storage-improving apps that regulate the battery and clear caches (though I've since deleted them due to inefficiency).

I've done everything short of a factory reset; mainly, because I've researched the problem and this particular fix and it seems to be 50/50 for most people.

Mishifitz,

We do appreciate all of the work you have already done. At this point, your best bet would be to do a factory reset. You do want to ensure you have everything backed up. Here are some links to help you out:

The Night Clock Issue is Known. Factory Reset will not fix it.  Other carriers have ship a minor update to fix it.  Until Verdon catches up. Delete Alarms or use 24 hr time.

Verizon Support, Face it we have all done exactly what you are suggesting.  Clearing cache, rebooting phone, completely backing up phone and doing a hard factory Reset.  Which by the way is fairly time consuming if you use your phone for business.  None of it fixes the password request as if the phone restarted instead of the finger print or the night clock feature and how ever many other issues we all have not actually come across yet.  It is apparent since quite a few of us are having similar issues that it is a problem with the new OS.  Please advise as best as you can on a time frame for a possible fix.  Thank you.

I greatly appreciate all of your efforts! I know how important it is to have all your services and features working. Your time is absolutely valuable as well! I'd love to give a couple more things a try.

Have you been able to delete any saved alarms on the clock and then re-test?

Have you ben able to toggle your 24-hour clock on instead and re-test? You can do this in Settings > Date & Time.

No need to delete the alarm. If the alarm is not active, it works. Deleting the alarm works as well, but as soon assign a new alarm, it stops working.

The 24 hr clock does work with an alarm set. However, I am not used to seeing 20:00 on my phone and equating that with 8:00 PM.
