Applications and Memory on Droid Eris HTC

hello,

I would like to know how may applications you have on your Droid Eris and out of those applications how much of your memory have you used.  I read on another forum that Droid Eris specs say that it has 256mb of memory for apps but after installing about 20 apps 105mb out of 159mb had been used.  Can some one please either confirm or deny this for me before i purchase the phone.  I am fearful that if I get the Droid Eris that I may run out of memory space before I can really get a true feel of the phone.

Thanks!

Every program varies in size.  The person who said 100MB of their available memory was gone after only 20 apps may have had 15 games on it that had a lot of graphics or something like a 3rd person "shooter" game with a great deal of graphics.

Many of these games were written with, shall we say, less that optimal memory usage in mind.  Instead of instaling the game's code to the system memory, and the associated graphics to the SD card, they often install everything just to the system file space, so only a few games could easily eat up a good chunk of your available storage on the phone.

Luckily program developers are starting to split the executable and data parts of their programs and are putting the data to the SD card, but if you picked 20 of the largest, poorly written programs to prove a point, I'm sure you could easily use up all or most of your system storage.

This.

There are very few games that can take up a few megabytes of memory -- I think Buka/Totemo/Radiant are the very few that I know about that do.

It strickly depends on what apps you do or donot download. The App sizes are so small that it would have to take you a great deal of apps to really take up the full storage of your phone.
