Did a forum search and found nothing on this. Just picked up an Eris for my wife and I am unable to download any apps from the android market. All attempted downloads stop in mid-download with the message " insufficient storage". Device is brand new and shows 128mb of internal memory.
Any thoughts?

I don't think there is any "factory sealing" on the boxes... I'm sure you're good from VZ
Try the power-on hard reset method:
Perform a hard reset on your HTC Droid Eris. These steps will clear all data and settings off the device.
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down and Send buttons.
2. Press the Power button.
3. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the hard reset.

Have you tried a battery pull or reboot. Try that first, but if that doesn't get it working, I think I'd be inclined to exchange it. If you just got the phone, it should not be a problem. Most of the apps available in the market are only a few megabytes, many are less. So there should be no reason you should not have enough storage.

Thanks for the input, but I've already tried that workaround. As an original Storm owner , became quite familiar with that tool) But, wouldn't trade that Storm for any device now, it's rock solid..
Honestly not particularly impressed with the Eris but want to give it a chance. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks for all your help!!

I got the same message as you did on my G1. It turns out I had too many apps on my phone. I then had to uninstall the apps I was not using as much to get newer apps that I wanted.

Thanks for the suggestion but no apps have been added to the phone and per the Android 101 thread, you are not able to uninstall native apps that came with the phone.
Tried to download HTC 2.08 and manage the apps that way, but it wouldn't install on Windows 7 machine. The program would load but not the drivers...makes my Storm 1 seem like a walk in the park..
Any other thoughts would be appreciated.....

First off, you didn't buy it at Best Buy did you? Where they turned around and sold you a phone that was returned by someone else as they did me?
If that's not the case I would suggest doing a "factory reset" of the phone. If I remember right it's under the "Security" section of the settings.

Factory reset was a solid idea, but when attempted I got the "unable to factory reset, system clear service unavailable"
I'll try again tomorrow.
No, didn't get the phone from Best Buy. Direct from Verizon. Box was not factory sealed, but everything inside looked fresh and new. They wouldn't give me a used phone would they....Hmmmmm.....
