Manage Gizmo devices with the GizmoHub app FAQs

GizmoHub is a smartphone app that lets you call, locate and manage Gizmo watches. With the app, you can:

• Speak with your child – Call your child's Gizmo any time, and your child can call you.
• Video chat with your child – Video call with your child's Gizmo Watch 3 or Verizon GizmoWatch Disney Edition for up to 3 minutes for a quick catch-up.
• Locate your child – Check the location of your child's Gizmo with one tap.
  • You can schedule a time for the Gizmo to automatically update its location.
  • You can set GPS boundaries and get notified if the Gizmo enters or leaves the area.
• Add contacts – Invite Gizmo Buddies, Caregivers and other Guardians so they can call and get calls from the Gizmo.
  
  The Gizmo Buddy feature allows calling and texting between Gizmo Watches.
• Send messages – Send short text messages to your child's Gizmo.
• Create group chats - Guardians can create a group and select its members, and then everyone in the group can join in on the same text message conversations, including your child on their Gizmo watch.
  
• Manage your child's Gizmo – You can use the GizmoHub app to change settings on the Gizmo, like volume, ringtones and fun sounds.
• Keep your child's information safe – You can protect this app by adding a PIN. Even if your phone is lost or stolen, your child's information will remain protected.

You can download the GizmoHub app at no cost from the Google Play™ Store and the Apple® App Store®. Install GizmoHub app on your phone and use it to set up your Gizmo watches.

No. The GizmoHub app can be downloaded and used on any designated caregiver or guardian's smartphone. That's regardless of the carrier that provides the phone's mobile plan.

A Gizmo watch, however, is a Verizon product and must be activated on its own Verizon line.

The number of contacts that your GizmoWatch can have depends on the model:

• Gizmo Watch 3 can have up to 20 contacts, including the Primary Guardian.
• Earlier Gizmo devices allow up to 10 contacts, including the Primary Guardian.
• You can invite Gizmo Buddies, Caregivers and Guardians.

Pairing invitations that you send count toward your total number of contacts. Invitations stay pending in your queue until they are accepted or declined by the person you invited.

No, you can't program 911 as one of the numbers for the GizmoWatch to call. Gizmo devices aren't compatible with 911 or similar emergency telephone number systems.

The Unlimited data plan for a Gizmo watch is $10 per month (plus taxes and fees) with no commitment. You can cancel anytime.

Gizmo Group Chat allows group messaging between Guardians, Caregivers and Gizmo Buddies:

• A Guardian creates a chat group in the GizmoHub app:
  • Gizmo watch must be either a GizmoWatch 2 or Gizmo Watch 3. (GizmoWatch Disney Edition does not support Group Chat.) 
  • All Buddies in a chat group must be on the same Gizmo account.
  • Guardians can add or delete group members or delete a group entirely.
  • Group Chat supports a maximum of 20 contacts per group, which require at least three participants, including a compatible Gizmo watch.

To delete or reset your Gizmo from the GizmoHub app:

1. Make sure your Gizmo is charged and turned on.
2. From the GizmoHub app, tap More.
3. Tap Manage Devices.
4. Tap Child Gizmo Device.
5. Under Device Settings, choose Delete Gizmo.

Note: This will reset the Gizmo and allow you to add it back to a child's profile.

GizmoWatch is splash and water resistant, but submerging isn't recommended. To maintain the performance of your GizmoWatch, read the Watch Water Resistance Information in the User Guide for your Gizmo. Find the User Guide for your Gizmo on our Device support page.

To prevent overheating, a video call on the Gizmo Watch 3 and GizmoWatch Disney Edition is limited to 3 minutes. The call will end at 3 minutes or whenever the internal temperature of the watch gets too warm. Here's what you can expect:

• If the watch starts to overheat during the video call, a thermometer icon appears. The user can end the call to keep the watch from getting warmer.
• If the thermometer reaches its max level, the call ends and the device goes into cool-down mode.
• Cool-down can take several minutes, depending on the device temperature and air temperature.
• After the watch cools down you can use it as usual.

You must have GizmoHub app on your smartphone to locate or message the GizmoWatch. Without the app, you can only call the GizmoWatch.

If your GizmoHub app isn't working, get the latest version from Apple App Store or Google Play.

Important: To successfully pair with Gizmo devices, every Caregiver should be using the latest version of GizmoHub app.

If your GizmoWatch isn't charging, the metal contacts of the watch and/or charger may be dirty or corroded. Turn off the device, unplug the charger, and clean the contacts with a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe.

Your Gizmo watch's location reporting depends on the positioning systems available. Gizmo watch tries to detect location in 3 ways, in this order:

• Global Positioning System (GPS) is the most accurate location method:
  • GPS works best outdoors under clear, open sky.
  • Under optimum conditions, locating with GPS can take 15-30 seconds. Accuracy can be within a few yards.
• Wi-Fi Positioning - Indoors or where outdoor GPS is weak, Gizmo scans for Wi-Fi signals to determine location. Accuracy may vary:
  • Location is generally less accurate than GPS.
  • Locating can take 30-40 seconds. Accuracy can be within tens of yards or as much as hundreds of yards.
  • Accuracy depends on a third-party Wi-Fi vendor's location database. If that database is outdated, some locations may not be accurate.
• Cellular Positioning - If GPS and Wi-Fi aren't available, Gizmo watch tries to determine location using cellular (wireless) towers:
  • Accuracy depends on how far away the cell tower is.
  • Location determined by cellular might be accurate within tens of yards, or within a mile if towers are far apart.
